Fall 2024 Alumni Newsletter

Dear Chi Phi Alumni of UNC,

As the active brothers return for yet another busy year of activities at the white house on South Columbia, we want to update you on some recent fraternity news and our upcoming Alumni Tailgate for the Georgia Tech football game on October 12th.

Before sharing the details of our Alumni Tailgate, we would like to share some highlights which have occurred recently at Chi Phi. Following a successful fall rush process, we are delighted to announce our Fall 2024 Rush Class of 19 young men who will undoubtedly bring about continued success to our fraternity. With this rush class, the current number of active Chi Phi’s at UNC will grow to over 85 brothers, far above the university average of 62.

Our President, Giancarlo Voltolina, and Risk Manager, Edison White, attended Chi Phi National’s Annual Congress in San Fransisco this past July to continue our work to improve our national standing. Giancarlo and Edison were not the only brothers busy this summer. Others traveled abroad, continued their academic studies, completed internships, and enjoyed a well-deserved break. Photos documenting just a few of the brothers’ summer adventures are pictured at the bottom of this newsletter.

The spring semester was exceptional for the whole of Chi Phi with continued improvements in academics and philanthropic efforts. The average semester GPA for our chapter was 3.51, an improvement which placed our chapter above the university average of 3.48 and UNC fraternity average of 3.47. Additionally, for the first time since 2012, our chapter registered over 100 hours of University-approved service hours last semester. Continuing our philanthropic efforts, we will be hosting a Low Country Boil to benefit the Michele Benaim Memorial Fund on October 22nd, which we would like to invite all alumni to attend.

We are extremely excited to welcome you back to Chapel Hill for our annual Alumni Tailgate to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the founding of the first Chi Phi chapter at Princeton University on December 24th, 1824. For those who have attended our alumni tailgates, this year’s tailgate will be organized in a similar manner. The exact time of the tailgate will be shared with you through email once the game time for the Georgia Tech game is set by the University. Live music will be accompanied by a food-truck and beverages.

We encourage you to contact other Chi Phi alumni regarding the tailgate who may not have received this email. Please RSVP for the Alumni Tailgate by clicking the link attached to the button at the bottom of this newsletter. The entire fraternity looks forward to connecting with you and your family for this special occasion.

In our Spring 2024 newsletter we highlighted our desire to build stronger professional relationships between active brothers and alumni. Linked in that newsletter was a Google Form for alumni to share their basic information to active brothers for networking purposes as well as a Google Sheet detailing the professional interests of active brothers. If you have not done so, we encourage you to complete the Google Form and view the Google Sheet in hopes that you will take the time to connect with an active interested in a similar career field as yourself.

If you know of a fellow alumnus who is not on this email list, please fill out their information in the subscription link at the bottom of the newsletter. Only first name, last name, email, and current city of residence is required. We again would like to welcome you to contact me, the Alumni Chairman, or our President at any time through the contact information below if you wish to visit the fraternity or provide suggestions to fraternity affairs.

We thank you so much for your continued support and look forward to speaking with each one of you.

Alumni Chairman- Jared Becken, [email protected]

President- Giancarlo Voltolina, [email protected]
